About Dr. Nades Palaniyar PhD

Prof Nades Palaniyar, received a PhD in Molecular Biology and Genetics at the University of Guelph, Canada, and as a Postdoctoral Fellow, was further trained on DNA/RNA and immune systems at the Universities of Cincinnati, OH, USA, Oxford, UK, and Harvard Medical School, MA, USA. He is a Senior Scientist of Translational Medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children Research Institute, and an Associate Professor of Lab Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. He established a research lab in 2004 at the Hospital for Sick Children to study immune system. He conducts research work on the pulmonary  innate immune system, neutrophils, neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), COVID-19 and other infectious and inflammatory diseases. He lectures and trains research students of the University of Toronto. Dr Nades Palaniyar and his research lab made over 80 original discoveries, and he authored more than 100 scientific publications and made more than 200 presentations in scientific conferences.

He received prestigious Fellowships from the Medical Research Council (MRC) of Canada, Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), American Lung Association (ALA), The Wellcome Trust Foundation of UK, and Harvard Medical School, USA. His research work has been funded by CIHR, Cystic Fibrosis Canada (CFC), Ontario Thoracic Society (OTS), Connaught Foundation and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council  (NSERC) of Canada. He is the Founder and Chair of the i-CLIIP conferences, and also the Chair of TASME Conferences for 15 years.  For his research work, leadership, and dedication, TASME awarded him a “Lifetime Scientific Achievement Award”, and a “Visionary Leader” title, and named an award as “Nades Palaniyar Award”, respectively. He has established an interview series to honor accomplished professors and scientists (with >40 interviews), and organized and appeared in more than 50 programs on several TV and radio events.
