Keshinisuthan(Keshi) Kirubalingam
VP of Global Health Committee
I am interested in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery with an emphasis on neuro-otology. Passionate about better access to hearing health in third-world countries through tele-health services and preventative screening programs. Having been born and raised in Sri Lanka, I learned to understand the impact of quality healthcare delivery in developing communities. I hope to go back to Sri Lanka to help accelerate initiatives targeted at preventative medicine to alleviate some of the downstream health burdens.
As a board of directors, I work closely with other executive members in the structural development of the organization and its executions. I also work to ensure that there is adequate non-board member representation in all decision-making processes of the organization. I help facilitate the connection between the advisory board composed of physicians and scientists to ensure adherence to standards. One of the objectives of the organization is to empower and connect Tamil medical trainees from Sri Lanka & India with opportunities to facilitate bidirectional learning. As a global health liaison, my role includes planning and implementing tangible ways for our members to be connected with medical trainees in these countries in hopes of increasing international relations and global health knowledge.
I am an avid long-distance runner, you can catch me exploring different scenic routes in Toronto & Kingston. I also like to spend my free time in nature – hiking, backcountry camping and kayaking.
I am left-handed dominant with a ride-sided strawberry birthmark on my face. Coincidence, maybe.

Nicholyn Selvanayagam
VP of International Medical Education
Nicholyn is the VP of International Medical Education and focuses on creating a community of IMGs who aspire to pursue a residency in North America, especially Canada. As a fellow IMG from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Medical University of Bahrain, she understands the difficulty and obstacles IMGs face as they try to return home to practice medicine. She hopes that through TARMS, we have a network of physicians and residents who can support our Tamil-Canadians who study medicine abroad.
She is currently a PGY-2 in Family Medicine (Dalhousie University) in Saint John, NB and the chief resident for the program. Nicholyn hopes to have her own family practice on the east coast, with a focus on women’s health and low-risk obstetrics.
Favourite Tamil food: kothu roti & mutton rolls – I can’t choose one!
