Welcome to our Global Health Committee’s page. Our goal is to provide resources on global health studies.

Welcome to our TARMS International Medical Education (IME) Committee’s page. Our goal is to provide resources, workshops, and mentorship to those of you who are either studying or have studied medicine abroad and hope to match back in residency, especially in North America. We will also focus on providing support for international medical students who would like to complete clinical electives in North America. We hope to create a network of IMGs, to support future international candidates while in medical school and once you’ve graduated and are practicing on your own! We look forward to growing as a team and working with you soon.

Welcome to our TARMS Mental Health (Wellness) Committee page. Our aim is to destigmatize mental health amongst Tamil medical students and the Tamil community. We do this by coordinating and implementing workshops that promote mental health. We also provide programming related to increasing mental health support for the Tamil community as a whole. We hope to prepare future Tamil medical students to identify and serve the needs of Tamil communities. The objective of our initiatives intend to provide resources and mental health support, while also spotlighting others in our community and how their lives are affected by mental health.

We have created a weekly platform called "Coffee With TARMS" in order to provide the Tamil community with an open forum to discuss anything and everything with the goal of giving people an opportunity to talk about mental health. Another initiative is “Enkal Kathaigal” on Instagram, where we spotlight the stories of Tamil medical trainees and physicians with hopes of destigmatizing mental health issues.

Sexual health is an important component of physical, emotional and social health. The goal of the Sexual Health (SH) Committee is to create and implement initiatives in sexual health education and advocacy. The SH Committee hopes to increase access to sexual health resources and supports within the Tamil community. Additionally, our portfolio hopes to develop strategies and initiatives that promote a culturally-safe space within TARMS.
